Maggie Feeny

My initial inspiration is the experience of being out in the rural and coastal landscape. Sometimes there are direct references to it, but these are often incidental. My actual intention is more about capturing something of the memory of being there; a certain energy associated with the weather, sensations of freedom, abandonment and the wonder of nature.

My work is therefore more of an emotional response to memories of places I might have been.

By playing endlessly with layers of colour and texture I hope the paintings transfer to the viewer a similar feeling of energy, space and the awe of nature.
