Alice is a Cambridge-born and -based artist whose work is deeply inspired by her upbringing in a musical and theatrical family, where culture was at the heart of daily life. She always creates while listening to classical music, which infuses her art with a vibrant sense of life and colour.
She studied for a BA in Illustration at Harrow Art College, where she specialised in reportage illustration—drawing directly and spontaneously from life. Her free, loose style developed from a personal discipline of keeping a sketchbook a week, a practice she continues to this day.
After marrying her husband, who works in the travel industry, Alice had the opportunity to visit many different places. This experience nurtured her instinct to capture a sense of place wherever she goes. Her response to landscape, coastline, and architecture has deepened her experimentation with drawing and painting.
Alice’s work is characterised by sensitive linework, expressive mark-making, and a thoughtful use of colour. Her style remains loose yet representational, always seeking to convey the feeling and rhythm of what she sees.
Now based in the Cambridgeshire countryside, Alice works from her newly converted garden studio. She exhibits regularly in Cambridge and Norfolk, and her illustrations have appeared in various Cambridge publications, including the Cambridge Alumni magazine.
