Justine Lois Thorpe

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles, Justine was approached by one of the UK’s top textile design studios to produce designs for fashion and furnishing fabrics that are still sold worldwide, in New York, Como, Tokyo, Milan and Paris to companies that include H&M, Monsoon and Laura Ashley. Justine's reputation as a professional artist and textile designer continues to grow. Her work has been exhibited at galleries all over the UK and she has undertaken many notable commissions including some for established interior designers and royalty.

Justine spent her early years in St Agnes, Cornwall, a place that continues to inspire her today. She lists Howard Hodgkin, Ivon Hitchens, Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon and Alfred Wallis as some of the artists that have influenced her style. Colour and texture is always paramount in her approach. Her free use of oils, acrylics and other mixed media gives her work a textured layered appearance, creating depth and a sense of space.

Justine's paintings have been shortlisted and selected for the Cork Street Open Exhibition (winter 2013), The Discerning Eye (Nov 2013), The Royal Institute of Oil Painters Open Exhibition (2014), The Society of Women Artists (2014) and recently for The Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. In June 2013 Justine was awarded The Green & Stone Award by the Chelsea Art Society.

She has been exhibiting successfully with Carina Haslam Art since early 2015, at the following major shows:

20/21 International Art Fair, Royal College of Art, London
Affordable Art Fair (AAF) London: Battersea/Hampstead
AAF New York
