Paul Hunter
An adventurous self-taught landscape painter inspired by where we live. Born in Yorkshire, England with a keen interest in painting landscapes. Whilst living in Asia he started a family and began to spend more time painting. Deepening his knowledge about paint and awareness as an artist. After returning to live in England he continues to draw inspiration from where he lives.
The making of his paintings is both on location and in the studio. Painting the ever-changing light on location feeds a sense of urgency and energy into his work. Studio painting takes a deeper, calmer approach using a variety of tools and media. The choice of tools and media depend on the situation but invariably reflect a need to physically and intuitively manipulate the paint. A sense of wonder and curiosity of the natural drama is at heart throughout.
