Born in 1963 in Kenya, Fiona McIntyre spent her childhood in Dublin and the South of England, from 1982-85 she did a BA hons at Edinburgh College of Art where she began experimenting with painting and drawing until moving to Sweden in 1986. She travelled throughout Scandianva including Iceland eventually studying printmaking in Malmo under Surrealist Bertil Lundberg. Here her strong drawing skills were encouraged and she developed a powerful series of work inspired by the Nordic landscape and psyche. In 1992 Fiona moved to Barcelona to complete an MA in European Fine Art (Winchester), this proved to be a turning point in the direction of her work which became a fusion of the techniques of painting and printmaking.

Now resident in Gloucestershire the theme of landscape is dominated by pattern and she works with highly charged colour, sweeping, flowing brush marks, scraping, scratching and working the paint to evoke the agricultural and natural patterns, the vibrant red earth tones and tangled trees of the Cotswold landscape.
