Michael Swallow
Michael’s interest in photography began with taking photographs on childhood holidays in North Wales. This intuitive connection with the medium carried him to Napier College, Edinburgh, where he gained a degree in photography.
Since graduating in 1988 Michael has become one of Manchester’s leading photographers. He creates powerfully evocative images for his international portfolio of commercial clients.
Alongside his commercial work Michael has created a parallel thread of personal non-commissioned work.
Recently he has returned to the coastline of North Wales to work on a series of seascapes. Part of this series, as seen here, is the Carreg Ddu (literally translates to Black Rock) project that was shot around the Llyn Peninsula.
These images reflect upon the deep drag and draw of the sea and our longing for a connection with the natural world, but they also play with more abstract concepts of time and motion.
This is an ongoing project, which will culminate in the 2010 photography exhibition at Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in Llanbedrog.

All Michael’s prints are giclee quality and are printed using light fast pigment inks on acid and lignin free archival paper. This means that the image is exceptionally stable and will not fade under normal viewing conditions. However we recommended that you do not display your print in direct sunlight or in areas of high humidity.
All prints are signed and numbered by Michael.
